As a photographer that hasn't always been a photographer I've been in your seat wondering maybe the same things you are wondering right now. No question is ever too small or insignificant to ask, I am here to help you get the best experience possible whether its with your new baby or your older ones. Here are a few FAQs that might answer your questions but if not you are always welcome to email me at any time!

The ideal time frame for newborns is between 3 to 10 days old. As newborns begin to approach that 2 week milestone they start to become more awake and some are more sensitive to touch, which isn't ideal when trying to pose a baby into that adorable little butt up position.

Although this time frame is ideal I understand that life doesn't always work according to our agenda. Things happen and you may not be able to make it in during that time frame. Don't be worried about contacting me and asking if your 15 day old baby or your 3 week old baby is unable to do newborn pictures, we will work together to make something beautiful for you and your newest addition.

If you have decided you would like to book a newborn session with me I encourage you to get a hold of me as soon as this decision is made. If you are 12 weeks, 28 weeks, or 35 weeks along we will be in contact all the way up until you deliver. How it works is when we are doing our initial phone consultation I will ask what your projected due date is and pencil you in on my calendar for that date. Once baby is here we will set a day aside for when you come home from the hospital to do  your session.

If baby comes early or late it isn't a problem. There is no time cut off or start date from your projected due date, its just a general estimate for both of us to anticipate baby's arrival.

We will go over more details on the phone during the consultation but the most essential things to bring with is yourself, baby, and whatever baby eats (formula or mama's milk). We have everything else at the studio such as diapers, wipes, pacifiers, etc. I also suggest to bring an extra change of clothes for mom and dad just in case any accidents happen you won't have to wear those clothes home.

You are welcome to bring any special mementos you would like included in any pictures and I will try to incorporate them the best I can. I will provide everything else such as headbands and outfits.

I will not be scheduling family sessions once the weather begins to turn cold unless you are interested in a lifestyle shoot. For spring/summer/fall family sessions I always try to schedule these based on weather predictions. If it decides to not do what the weather man says it will we have two options, reschdule or try to find a covered location.

Some people wonder why I don't just do indoor family pictures in this case and its really for the mere fact that it limits so many things such as variety and the lightheartedness outdoor sessions provide so I try to avoid it. If there are special cases when a session must be done the day it is scheduled (for instance grandma is in town) we can discuss more some options to resolve the weather problem at that time.
